Employment Opportunities

Pastor of Service and Operations (PSO)

Function:

  • The PSO shall be responsible for assisting the Senior Pastor with the ministry of Shepherd of the Hills (SOTH).

Status:

  • Full time, salaried, exempt (40+ hours/week)
  • Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:00, Sundays 7:00-12:00.
    • Times are subject to change as needed by the ministry but will generally follow the schedule listed.
  • Benefits are available for this position

Location:

  • This position will function out of the church building/office. This is not a remote position.

Reports To: 

  • Senior Pastor, Elders

Supervises:

  • Volunteer and paid staff as may be assigned 

Summary:

  • The PSO will be a member of the leadership of the church and shall be responsible for various aspects of ministry within the church.  Specifically, this position oversees the overall operations of the physical property and Sunday services, and other tasks as may be assigned.
  • It can’t be overstated this is a pastoral role, using the physical property as a way in which to disciple and provide opportunities for others to serve the Body of Christ. 

Responsibility:

  • Carry out the vision of the Senior Pastor
  • Oversee the ministry of physical property (building and grounds)
  • Recruit and train volunteers to serve in the care of the physical property
    • Areas include (but are not limited to) grounds keeping, building maintenance and upkeep, building security.
    • Be able to perform those tasks needed in the care of the physical property or to coordinate with others for the same.
  • Oversee the various operations on Sunday morning, making sure staff and volunteers are prepared and equipped for their service.
    • Areas include (but are not limited to) the church’s welcome desk, snack bar, bookstore, A/V ministry.
  • Be available on Sunday morning to serve in case of volunteer and/staff absence
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors as needed
  • Serve as the pastor to the Deacon board
    • Communicate and coordinate with the Deacons with regard to ministry plans for the property
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Is a member (or willing to become a member) of SOTH
  • Able to perform the tasks required of the position
  • Meets the scriptural qualifications of Elder/Overseer
  • Able to be flexible with regard to tasks, schedules, and other dynamic elements of the position
  • Theological education and/or training preferred but not required.
  • Experience with similar work in a professional capacity is preferred.
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Able to receive constructive criticism
  • Able to work independently and under supervision
  • Able to use a computer with email
  • Able to work in a team environment and independently
  • Able to work with and without supervision
  • Able to be a visionary and strategic thinker
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted

Property Manager (PM)

Function:

  • The PM will function as a member of the church’s operational staff under the supervision of the Senior Pastor.  The PM will be tasked with regular maintenance of the church building and grounds.

Status:

  • Full-time, salaried, exempt. (40 hours per week)
  • Monday-Friday (9:00 – 4:00)
    • Times are subject to change as needed by the ministry but will generally follow the schedule listed.

Location:

  • This position will function out of the church building/office. This is not a remote position.

Reports to:

  • Senior Pastor, Elders

Supervises:

  • Volunteer and paid staff as may be assigned

Summary:

  • The PM will serve in an operationally supportive role. He/She will be tasked with regular maintenance and cleaning of the church building and grounds. This will include, but is not limited to, lawn maintenance, building maintenance, cleaning, regular maintenance and repair of equipment (i.e. tractors, mowers, generators, building utilities, etc.).  Additionally, snow removal, leaf collection, tree trimming, lawn mowing, and other grounds-related duties are expected of this position.  
  • The PM will also be responsible for coordinating with vendors and contractors needing access to the property for various activities.
  • This position must be filled by a person who is a self-starter and able to see a need and fill that need without constant prompting.

Responsibility:

  • Carry out the vision of the Senior Pastor
  • Work in cooperation with other staff and pastors to accomplish the mission of the church
  • Attend and hold meetings as needed
  • Be involved with special events, coordinating as needed
  • Preparing the building for weekly activities as needed
  • Coordinate volunteers to complete tasks
  • Regular maintenance of the building, grounds, and mechanical equipment
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Service Opportunities

CHRONICLES BOOKS STORE ATTENDANT: We are looking for volunteers to help assist our Sunday morning operations (8 AM – 12:30 PM) at our bookstore, Chronicles Christian Books. If you have a love of books and coffee, this may be a perfect opportunity for you. Training will be provided; a general knowledge of technology & tablet devices is a plus. WORSHIP TEAM: We are currently looking for anyone interested in serving with our One Voice worship ministry.  Whether you sing, plan an instrument, operate sound equipment, or run projectors, we're looking for you.  Must be able to commit to one Sunday per month.  For more information, please contact Pastor Jon Grove at media@soth.church

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER: We are looking for volunteers to lead one of our Sunday School classes, either 1st – 3rd grade or 4th – 6th. Sunday School runs during the 9:30 AM hour. SOUND / VIDEO TEAM: We need additional volunteers to run our Video (Projection) and Sound systems during our Sunday morning services. Training will be provided. Please contact Pastor Jon jgrove@soth.church or Pastor Charles crowdon@soth.church if you are interested in either team and your service preference.

TEE-BALL COACH: We are currently looking for a couple of people to serve as tee-ball coaches for the 2021 season, beginning in April.  The coach should have knowledge of the game, the ability to coach children, and the ability to manage the schedule of the team.  This team will compete in the regular Boyertown Midget Baseball League.  Practices will be held at the church, games will be played on BMBL fields.  The church will provide all equipment and uniforms.  Per PA law, background clearances will be needed.

CONNECT GROUP LEADER:  We are currently looking for people to host in-home small groups.  The person must be (or willing to become) a member of SOTH, be a believer, be able to host a group of between 7 and 10 other people twice per month, and be able to coordinate the group's meetings.  This person ideally will have a spiritual giftedness of a pastor, teacher, administrator, host, or other relevant gift.  If you are interested in serving in this way, please contact Pastor Charles Rowdon at crowdon@soth.church
