About Us

A Letter To Our New family,

Hi, and welcome to Shepherd of the Hills Church!  It is my hope that after looking through our site, learning more about us, and even listening to a message or two that you will choose to make Shepherd your church home.

When you visit, you can expect to receive a warm welcome.  We’ve saved you some of the best parking, so please make sure you find the visitor’s parking in the front parking lot – it is the closest lot to the main entrance and you can pull right in.  When you come in the front doors, you will be welcomed by one of our volunteers who can help direct you into the building.  If you would like more information about our church, please stop by our information desk located in the foyer – these volunteers know everything! (well, maybe not everything, but you get my point)  Once you are ready, please feel free to find the most comfortable seat in our main sanctuary and enjoy our service.

If you attend our 8:00 acoustical service, you can expect your worship to be accompanied by our highly talented organist and pianist as you sing a selection of wonderful hymns of praise with the congregation.  After worship, there is usually a time of prayer and then I, or one of our other pastors will speak.  The message usually lasts about 25-30 minutes and the service concludes at about 9:00.

If you choose to attend the 9:30 or 11:00 service, you will find a more contemporary feel.  One of our three incredible worship teams will lead us in worship as we praise the Lord.  You may notice you already know many of the songs.  Great!  Our teams work hard to make sure they keep up to date with new music and worship themes.  Following worship, the children are invited to watch our short presentation we call the “Good News Mystery Box.”  Each week, one child is picked at random to take home our mystery box and bring it back with a secret item.  Using that item, one of our pastors will present the gospel in a brief message.  Afterwards, the children are led by one of our Discipleship Oasis leaders to children’s church where they receive age-appropriate instruction and are able to move, run and play.  Then I, or one of our other pastors will speak.  The message usually lasts about 25-30 minutes and the service usually lasts about an hour.  After service, you can pick up your children at their Discipleship Oasis classroom.  (Oh, FYI, children left in the classroom too long after service may be given candy, coffee, and/or a kitten)

Sunday isn’t the only day we’re here.  Throughout the week there are adult education groups, children’s youth club, and a senior-high youth group called “H2O,” not to mention the various fellowship ministries that hold events and activities.  In addition, our church operates a top-notch preschool, and Christian homeschool co-op  And that’s not all!  You could say there are few times when nothing is happening.

With all that said, we could go on, but it would be best if you could join us and see for yourself the great things God is doing here at Shepherd, through people just like you.  So, please, join us this Sunday as my personal guest.  Come up, say hi and let me know how I can help you grow in the Lord.  Oh, yea - let the information desk know you are a first-time visitor because we have a gift we want to give you.   See you Sunday!  God bless!!!!
