Our book we will discuss in July is “ The Summer of You and Me” by Denise Hunter.

Five years after her husband’s death, Maggie Reynolds is finally ready for love again-until the past shows up in the form of someone who may or may not be the late husband she thought her and her daughter, Zoey, had lost.

Ethan’s brother Josh has been there for Maggie and Zoey, since the death of his brother. Unbeknownst to Maggie, Josh has been in love with Maggie since they first met, before Ethan won her heart.

When she and Zoey go back to Seabrook, she runs into a man who could be Ethan’s twin. This stirs up impossible questions and sends Josh and her on a quest to discover the man’s true identity. But their search ends up raising more questions than answers- and soon Maggie is not sure she wants those answers at all,

***You do not have to finish the book or even read it to come and enjoy the fellowship, please just come.

Bible Studies:  *Please note it is never too late to join a study, whether the topic has just started or is halfway through, just come!

* Tuesday evening: Gail Berger, 6:30 PM, meets in the Conference Room, the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month

The ladies will continue to study the book of Philippians.

*Wednesday Morning: Renee Miller, 9:30-12:00, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, in the Parlor.

We are currently in the last chapter of our study “David’s Delight, Our Delight”.

Our next study will start this month, “Delighting in God’s Wisdom, A study on the Book of Proverbs”.

Wisdom. We need it. We want it - but often look for it in all the wrong places. Moment by moment our life circumstances dictate the need for wisdom. From simple everyday choices to the more complex and life changing; we need wisdom for successful decision-making. Where do we find this wisdom? Solomon will tell us in the book of Proverbs that wisdom begins with the fear of God and all wisdom in found in Him. Proverbs, written by Solomon, the wisest man on earth, is the “how to” for life and will lead you to the heart of God and His wisdom.  Woven into the study are examples from women in the Bible who were both wise and unwise.

The book is available in Chronicles Book Store for $5.00

*Mom’s Group: for mothers with children through 12th grade: Heather Wells

They will meet in the Parlor on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings at 6:00PM

The women are continuing to study from the book “Sweeter Than Honey”, A Bible Study on Enjoying God in His Word.  Gretchen Saffles and Maggie Combs teach the value of studying God’s Word while providing the tools to apply it to your life. Discover 3 principles that can be applied every time you open the Bible.

As I sit here, I am thinking of a question a daily devotion by Abby McDonald asked of me, What do we miss when go to others first?  Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to me and I will answer you, and tell you great things you do not know.” Hmmm, what questions do you have that need an answer?  I know I am not always wise and I ask opinions of trusted Christians, BEFORE I go to the Father.

How about when I feel God is not answering me fast enough? Are you patient and waiting on God I seek out answers I want from the “experts”. There is nothing wrong with seeking answers from good Christian teachers, pastors and mentors.  Scripture instructs us to seek wise counsel, yet it is clear that the most Wonderful Counselor is God himself, Isaiah 9:6

He desires us to come to Him first. and then listen, be patient, trust and obey. Thanks be to God, He is ready and willing to speak to us when we come to Him. When we don’t we are the ones who miss out on the beautiful gift He offers us who call Him Lord, the ability to hears His voice. Seeking God for ourselves requires us to put aside our desire for immediate answers, taking time to sit with him and it is always worth it!  Lord, help us not to be tempted to trade your wisdom and counsel for quick answers. Help us to remember the priceless gift we have in you.

God Bless,
Renee Miller
